Choose security ink by industry, not by guesswork

The same security ink has to solve different problems depending on the industry — on a cigarette pack it is the division of labour between carton and pack; on a bottle it is security plus diversion control; on a document it is multi-layer detection thresholds. The efficient path is therefore to start from the industry, establish the verification scene and position-by-position roles, then settle on the specific ink.

Each application page below gathers one industry’s commonly used inks, a position- or carrier-based selection table, press notes and FAQ in one place, and links both ways with the relevant product pages. Start from the application page to fix the combination, then open the product page to check specifications and detection method.

Different industries face different counterfeiting routes and verification scenes — so the right security ink combination differs too. Below are the application pages we maintain, each covering the inks, position-by-position selection, press notes and FAQ for one industry. Every page links to the relevant product pages, and each product page links back here.

Tobacco & Cigarette Pack Security Ink

Security combinations for cartons, packs, inner liners, tear tape and seals, tiered by three detection thresholds (consumer / channel / high-security).

Liquor & Wine Packaging Security Ink

How spirits, wine and beer differ in security focus, plus region-code plus covert ink for channel diversion control.

Scratch-off Ticket & Card Ink

Coverage, scratch feel and secrecy in the scratch layer, primer matching and common failures, plus multi-layer ticket security.

Card Production Ink

Three process thresholds in card production (lamination heat, signature writability, abrasion and solvent resistance), gold/silver ink vs hot stamping, and covert card security.

Cosmetics Packaging Security Ink

Thermochromic ink for interactive verification, covert UV for channel checks — matched to glass, plastic, cartons, tubes and labels.

Document & Certificate Security Ink

Multi-layer combinations of IR excitation, OVI and covert UV — a detection-threshold approach for high-security documents.

Frequently Asked Questions

Selection, detection, printing and ordering — answered.

How do application pages differ from product pages, and which should I read first?
A product page explains what one ink is, its specifications and how it is detected. An application page explains how an industry should combine inks, what to use at each position, and press notes. We suggest starting from your industry page to fix the combination and position roles, then opening the relevant product page to check specifications and detection. The two are cross-linked, so you can switch back and forth.
Are these solutions off-the-shelf or custom?
The application pages give an organised starting combination. The specific formulation, film thickness and positions still need to be adjusted to your substrate, press and post-press steps. We recommend confirming with your artwork and process details, and verifying the result by proof.
What if I can't find my industry?
Start from the selection logic used on the existing pages (layering by detection threshold, dividing by position) and consult the Ink Selection Guide for a product cross-comparison. For a genuinely new industry need, contact us with your application and we will propose a matching combination.
Can several security inks be used on one package at the same time?
Yes, and it is the recommended approach. Once a single technology is broken its whole line of defence is worth nothing, so the usual practice is to stack two or three by detection threshold: consumer-verifiable (OVI, thermochromic), needing a small tool (UV fluorescent), and needing dedicated equipment (IR excitation) — backing each other up.
How do minimum order quantity, proofs and quotation work?
Packaging is 1 kg cans and 5 kg drums; minimum order quantity is flexible and can be discussed per project. Printed proofs are provided free of charge for colour selection and effect confirmation; ink samples are priced by weight. Quotations cover the ink itself only, excluding freight and taxes, with delivery to a customer-designated location within mainland China.
